ACCOMODATION

Yuksam has a wide range of places to stay, ranging from the remarkably cheap (but very basic) trekkers hut to the top-end hotels. Most places are decent and spotless and have a shared or private attached bathroom. Prices range from 50 Rupees to 1400 Rupees per night (not inclusive of food). It is important to enquire about the reliability and cost of the hot water and heating, especially during winter.

For people looking for adventure, one can pitch a tent at the camping grounds available. Both camping grounds have shared bathrooms. You may need a tent, sleeping bag and cooking equipment (this might not be necessary as food is cheap and easily accessible).

Beside these hotels, the visitors to Yuksam now have a choice of staying with a family in home stays. The home stays have one to two double bedded rooms each and is scattered around the village. The home stays provides a unique opportunity for the visitors to know and experience local culture and tradition, taste wonderful local cuisine, spend time with the family and share traditional local brew called "chang". The home stays help local economy through sharing of benefits from tourism among many families.

Homestay typically includes all meals and a comfortable bed. The hosts will usually provide hot water for washing up. Price is a 250 rupees per person per night. Note that 10% service charge will be included.
